Francisco Veiga

He earned a degree in International Economic and Political Relations from the University of Minho (1991), and a Ph. D. in Economics from the University of South Carolina, USA (1998). He is a full professor in the Department of Economics of the School of Economics and Management at the University of Minho, as well as a member of its General Council. He teaches Macroeconomics, International Monetary Economics, and Economic Growth. Research interests: International Monetary Economics, Economic Growth, and Political Economy. He is the author of 25 articles published in international scientific journals listed on Web of Science and Scopus. He coordinated several research projects funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). He coordinated research projects for various entities, namely the office of the Portuguese Secretary of State for Culture and Parque Escolar, EPE. He is currently coordinating a research project commissioned by the office of the Portuguese Secretary of State for Local Administration. His expertise earned him an invitation to join the committee that prepared draft legislation on municipal financial recovery, and he was a member of the technical secretariat responsible for drafting proposals for revisions to the Local Government Financing Law and the Autonomous Regions Financing Law.
