Michaela Saisana is a Senior Scientific Officer and Project Leader at the European Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC). She conducts and coordinates research (COIN-team, 10 post-doc researchers) on multidimensional measures for evidence-based policy making. She collaborates, by auditing performance indices, with over 100 international organizations and world-class universities, including United Nations, UNICEF, Transparency International, World Economic Forum, INSEAD, World Intellectual Property Organization, Yale U., Columbia U., Harvard U. Her publications deal with composite indicators, multicriteria analysis, multi-objective optimization, data envelopment analysis, sensitivity analysis, (20 peer-reviewed articles, 2 books, 60 working papers). She offers regular trainings/seminars on composite indicators (over 30 trainings and 60 invited lectures). In 2004 she was awarded the European Commission — JRC Young Scientist Prize in Statistics and Econometrics in recognition of her research on composite indicators. She has a PhD and an MSc in Chemical Engineering.
